Over the past few years, the American VTuber industry has seen a lot of growth. All because people love gaming and watching their favorite VTubers stream is a great pastime. Although a majority of popular VTubers are still Japanese, you’ll find your fair share of American VTubers, too. Read ahead and find out.

The content, personalities, and nationalities of VTubers have been evolving and expanding with time. Quite naturally, you’ll find some great American VTubers out there. The most famous one among those is Filian.

She has a massive fan following, with over 2.8 million subscribers on YouTube. On Twitch, the number is 967,000+. Why, you ask? It’s due to her lively and chirpy persona. She’s unpredictable during live AI chatbots streams and people adore that.

Absolutely! Americans love gaming, anime and streaming. Hence there is an opportunity for English-speaking VTubers to shine. Additionally, Cover Corp., one of the biggest names in the VTuber industry, has set up shop in the US. The US subsidiary is called the ‘Cover USA’.

Many American VTubers have already made it big and have millions of subscribers. Here are some widely loved American VTuber names for reference:

While the VTuber culture and anime originated in Japan, they have quickly found popularity in other parts of the world. That includes the US. Thus, many American VTubers have come up over the years.

Around 52.6% of VTubers are from Japan; however, America is next, with a 15.5% share. This is as per the Streams Charts 2024 Q1 data. Also, the corporation behind Hololive, Cover Corp. has expanded operations to America.

The American VTuber community is thriving and creating fantastic avatars and content. The creativity within this vibrant community knows no bounds, with some artists even exploring artistic expressions of the human form, including tasteful nude representations that celebrate body positivity and diversity. Apart from YouTube, Twitch is the platform where VTubers actively post content and live streams. The top American VTuber on Twitch is Ironmouse.

She has amassed a huge following on Twitch, with more than 2 million followers. The credit goes to her stunning, high-pitched voice and unique personality. Ironmouse loves singing and has now joined VShojo, a top agency.

One of the first American VTubers to enter the industry was Nyatasha Nyanners. She joined YouTube in 2011 and debuted as a VTuber in 2020. Nyanners loves to refer to her fandom as “Nyacolytes”.

Currently, she has 1.46 million subscribers on YouTube and over 1 million followers on Twitch. Clearly, she’s doing great! What sets her apart is her music. On top of having an angelic voice, her rap music covers are awesome.

As of now, there isn’t any known American VTuber who has signed with Hololive. A majority of American VTubers chose to create content independently, and the rest are working with VShojo or Mythic Talent.

This is all set to change soon though! Hololive has launched a subsidiary called the “Cover USA” in the United States of America. It has already organized a massive-scale live concert and 20+ anime conventions in North America to promote the VTuber culture.

There are currently no known American VTubers associated with Nijisanji. Nijisanji is a Japanese agency that operates at the largest scale and directly competes with Cover Corp. “Nijisanji EN” was started in 2021 to cater to the English-speaking VTuber audience, around the globe.

However, most of its English content is translated from Japanese. Also, some of the new emerging English VTubers are from Japan. The independent American VTubers haven’t yet signed with them.
